INCLUSIVE EDUCATION With HANDICAP INTERNATIONAL and UNI EROPA

The right to education is universal and extends to all children. Still, it is considered that the majority of CwDs are out of school, while many of those enrolled are not learning adequately.

The overall objective of the present project is the full participation of children with Disability (CwDs) in Nusa Tenggara Barat communities. This long term objective will be reached in part as a result of the project implementation itself but also with the contribution of all sectors concerned.

In achieving the specific objective To contribute to a quality shift toward an inclusive education system in 3 districts and 1 urban city of NTB province, it is expected that Children with disability will be placed at the core of the learning system. The development of their learning environment should take a holistic approach whereby community actors such as community leaders, parents, DPs etc. participate in the education process. This approach, which will include the full participation of children, will be set up during the project to ensure sustainability of the inclusive education system.  To obtain the full participation of CwDs, they themselves require the maximum close support in and out of school. This support should take into account the existing education frameworks which are part of the decentralization process. Considering this main approach, the participation and commitment of all educational actors within the project as well as children with disabilities will be supported.in a particular activity based on project frame.

Moreover, support to the development of education policies and action plans defined at provincial and district level will be provided to ensure that they take into account all disabled children, encourage their full participation and promote diversity.
